Position Summary

Hands-on hardware design team leader with responsibility for all module level hardware design activities for our unique antenna-embedded radio system as well as the transfer of these designs into mass production at our EMS partners. The hardware comprises Gb/s digital circuitry as well as GHz analog RF components including our proprietary integrated circuits. The development further includes the design of supporting low speed circuits like e.g. microcontroller, dc-dc converter, and temperature sensors. The Head of Hardware Design leads a team of currently 7 hardware designers and layouters. The responsibility includes project planning, goal setting and performance reviews for his or her subordinates.

The Head of Hardware Design reports to the VP of Engineering.

Job Description

- Generation, maintenance and execution of project plans aligned to product roadmap and the project plans of the other development teams.
- Supervision, direction, and hands-on support of all design, layout, and lab evaluation activities, including design improvements for performance, manufacturability and cost.
- Selection of and negotiations with RF component manufacturers.
- Support and direction of EMS partners.
- Collaboration with the System Engineering group on system realization and definition of future products
- Goal setting and performance reviews for subordinates

Expertise Required

- Design experience of RF modules / RF boards, including schematic and layout
- Knowledge of high-speed digital signalling in the Gb/s range
- Simulation experience with circuit simulators for analyses of microwave or high-speed digital circuits as well as structure simulators based on electromagnetic field solvers
- GHz RF filters like SAW, FBAR, ceramic
- GHz / Gb/s lab measurements
- Strong technical leadership skills
